SNAP Supports Parliamentary Petition Against Banking Discrimination

SNAP has signed a UK Parliamentary petition calling for banks to be banned from denying services to sex workers solely because of their lawful work.

Access to basic banking is essential for financial security, and business operation. Yet many sex workers continue to face account closures, refusals, or sudden loss of services without explanation or recourse. This practice disproportionately affects independent workers and small businesses within the adult industry.

The petition urges the government to recognise this as a form of discrimination and to introduce protections that prevent financial institutions from excluding individuals based on their profession alone.

The petition is currently open for signatures. At 10,000 signatures, the government is required to respond, and at 100,000 signatures it will be considered for debate in Parliament.

SNAP encourages supporters, allies, and industry professionals to read, sign, and share the petition to help push this issue forward.
