GUEST Post: Navigating the World of Mature Male Webcamming

I am a “mature” male webcammer. I work on different websites. The main ones I work on are Chaturbate, Cam4, Loyal Fans & Stripchat. All cammers have their favourites based around payouts, streaming quality, customer service & overall popularity. There are many other cam sites, such as Adultwork, so the variety of choice is huge.

If you’re thinking of camming, I hope the few pointers here, as to what you will expect and the issues you will face, will prove helpful. I will focus on the platform I mainly work on. I won’t reveal it’s name.

I have worked in the adult industry for many years. I won’t reveal my role. One year ago, I decided to add another earning stream by trying commercial webcamming. I bought a good HD webcam and a ringlight & did my research first. I registered at several sites as a customer and watched the male cammers in action. The sites have a huge number of S.American models who are mostly young. They charge top money. There are models from all over the world but I was interested in the “Daddy” market. “Daddy” is a term used by mature males to describe their sexuality – usually as a dominant person.

Models perform for free initially and they earn through receiving “tips” or “tokens” which “motivates” them to do more actions. The real money is earned when they go into private chat with a customer where they cam2cam exclusively.

I noticed there weren’t many British mature male models and the ones camming didn’t seem to be very engaging with customers.

I verified myself with a few sites and read all the advice about building a camming business. I wanted to be prepared.

After trying out some sites, I settled on one which seemed to have an easy “layout” & good payout system. The verification process was easy and I could see that “new” cammers always earned well in their first 2/3 weeks. This site promoted new cammers, as customers always love seeing newbies!

My first two weeks were crazy. What did I do on cam to attract a following? I normally started the session fully clothed and gradually stripped until I was naked. On this site, you can see clearly which customers have money to spend and which ones don’t. I decided to engage with all visitors to my room as moneyless customers can always purchase tokens and spend with you.

I discovered early on that there’s many time wasters and fakers. Some (male) models cam just for fun, but my intention was to earn and (hopefully) have fun.

I have built up a following of over 5000 in this one site (over a 5 month period) and have 700 “friends”. I also have a fan club and have 28 members. This doesn’t sound like many – but each fan club member pays a monthly fee to see exclusive content & receive discounts, similar to OnlyFans. I don’t do camming full time – I usually spend a total of 10/12 hours per week on cam. How much do I earn? Find out at the end of this article.

My advice to guys considering camming? Be professional and polite with everyone. Your room will be quiet for periods but still be attentive as customers will be surfing the site and your room could get a “whale” ie a customer who spends loads. These customers will invite you to go into private chat and cam2cam. This is where the money is earned. It’s the skill of the cammer to keep the customer in private chat for as long as possible. Teasing is a byword.

The one big difference between male & female cammers is the obvious. Men can’t pretend. Many male cammers use pills to help them. I have used  pills on a few occasions but prefer not to. Cumming on cam is what people want to see, so best to keep that moment for an exclusive private chat. Fake cumshots can be done, but you have to be sure you know what you’re doing. I am bisexual, so it’s fun seeing guys watching me and the fact that I turn them on is actually a turn on for me. I get the occasional female pay to watch me and I’ve even had a few couples. Lots of crossdressers, fembois and trans also like to chat and enjoy my company. I enjoy relating to people from all over the globe. You can see their country on their profile. This site has AI translator so I get all messages in English.

I keep a selection of toys nearby, such as a Fleshlight, small wands and small dildos. Customers pay extra for a model to use in the show.

I also sell videos on the site. Just videos of me as I’m registered as a solo male performer. I price the videos according to their length & what I do in them. These can be viewed and bought even when I’m offline. I also receive requests for custom videos.

Performing on cam in my home feels safe. I sometimes worry that, as I show my face on cam, I might be recognised. But that’s a risk I’m willing to take.

How much do I earn on this site? Earnings fluctuate of course but for my (roughly) 40 hours per month on cam, I earn,on average, £800pm, after the site has taken its commission. That’s only £20ph I know –  a pittance, but my earnings have been increasing every month I work on the site. June 2024 my income was £1200.

It’s like any business. Build it slowly, increase your customer base, communicate info to your customers and give them what they want, but only what you are prepared to give.
